1. Kidscreen Summit (February 8 - March 5, 2021)
Kidscreen's premier annual event is a conference on the business of kids' entertainment, hosting more than 2,000 attendees worldwide, including top decision- and deal-makers interested to engage, network and find new ideas. Kidscreen aims to deliver the best networking experience by offering scheduled pitching opportunities, discussions, mentoring, screenings, and other fun and dynamic activities. 2. Ottawa International Animation Festival (Sept 22-26, 2021; Submission Deadline: May 31, 2021)
The Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) is one of the world’s leading animation events providing screenings, exhibits, workshops and entertainment since 1976. OIAF is an annual five-day event bringing art and industry together in a vibrant hub (usually held every September). Last year, the 44th annual OIAF received a total of 1,950 entries from 84 countries and selected 98 for competition.
3. SIGGRAPH (August 1-5, 2021)
This year's ACM SIGGRAPH virtual event is SIGGRAPH 2021: The 48th International Conference & Exhibition On Computer Graphics & Interactive Techniques. The conference is scheduled to take place on August at the Los Angeles Convention Center. SIGGRAPH invites you to contribute your latest innovation to this experience and to celebrate advancements in computer graphics, digital art, animation, visual effects, machine learning, artificial intelligence, immersive and mixed realities, scientific visualization, and many more.
4. Brussels International Animation Film Festival (February 12-21, 2021)
ANIMA (The Brussels International Animation Film Festival) will celebrate its 40th edition and will take place on February 2021 at Flagey, Brussels. The Anima Team plans to offer its festival-goers a 2021 hybrid edition worthy of its 40th anniversary, if possible at cinemas and also online. Entries will be selected to compete in the Oscar-qualifying international competition (shorts and features, commercials, music videos). The event also introduces festival-goers to the latest and most beautiful animation film discoveries!
5. MONSTRA - Lisbon Animation Festival
Since 2000, MONSTRA - Lisbon Animation Festival brings together people with artistic backgrounds using the diverse language of animation cinema. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Festival was left with no other options than to cancel its program scheduled for March 18-29, 2020. The festival now looks forward to celebrating its next edition in Spring, March 10 -21, 2021.
6. Tricky Women/Tricky Realities
Since 2001, Tricky Women/Tricky Realities takes place every year in March around the date of International Women’s Day. This year, Tricky Women/Tricky Realities: International Animation Film Festival with a unique focus on animation by women/trans/inter filmmakers, will take place in Vienna on March 10 – 14, 2021, celebrating 20 years of passionate commitment to the visibility of female* animation artists in the world. Submission of animated films is free of charge. However, entries were only accepted until October 1, 2020.
7. Kaboom Animation Festival
Kaboom Animation Festival, a progressive and inclusive festival in the Netherlands, celebrates animation in all its glorious shapes and sizes, featuring the latest and greatest in all things animated. You are invited to attend the festival’s five top notch animation days in the spring of 2021, which will take place from March 31 to April 4, 2021. Here, you will witness the best animated shorts and feature films, VR experiences, inspiring talks by animation talent and an extensive industry programing.
8. Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS)
After hosting an online edition for 2020, Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS) 2021 is set to happen on May 4–9, 2021 with plans to host the event once again in Stuttgart, Germany. ITFS is an Oscar-qualifying festival and one of the most outstanding events for animated film worldwide. The Festival presents a full, up-to-date spectrum of animated filmmaking and its intersections with visual effects, architecture, art, design, music and games.
9. Winter Film Awards International Film Festival (WFA)
The Winter Film Awards International Film Festival (WFA) announces a Call for Entries for its 10th Annual celebration of independent film, to be held September 23-October 2, 2021 in New York City. The rapidly growing Festival seeks a diverse collection of creative indie films from NYC and worldwide in all genres – ranging from narrative features to short films, from documentaries to animation, and from music videos to web series and horror films.
